Plasma Cutting FAQ
Plasma Cutting Services — FAQ
An RTU engineering graduate with 15 years of metalworking experience answers questions about our plasma cutting capabilities.
We have four plasma and oxygen cutting machines at our disposal. Three are equipped with oxygen cutting technology and three with plasma cutting technology. We also use rotary devices for grinding and two machines equipped with drilling modules that allow drilling holes up to 40 mm in diameter.
Our plasma machines are equipped with tables in various sizes. We can process metal sheets up to 4 metres wide and up to 26 metres long. The maximum material thickness we can process is 220 mm for structural carbon steel. Machine performance depends on the complexity of the operations being performed.
OMNICUT 5000 — thickness up to 280 mm, width up to 4000 mm, length up to 2700 mm. Voortman V310 — thickness up to 100 mm, width up to 3000 mm, length up to 15000 mm, drilling up to 40 mm. MGM Omnicut MS300 — thickness up to 220 mm, width up to 4 m, length up to 27 m, drilling up to 50 mm.
In the plasma cutting department we follow the ISO 9013 standards, which define acceptable levels of precision and tolerance for different thicknesses and types of materials. In general, accuracy and tolerances comply with ISO 9013-12 and ISO 9013-442 standards. A certain tolerance increase is allowed for narrow and long parts. In addition, the accuracy and flatness of the material is governed by the standards set by the equipment manufacturers.
Our company is certified according to the international standard ISO 9001. In addition, our equipment is certified according to the EN 1090 standard, which is often requested by our customers for the production of metal structures according to European standards.
We mainly work with structural steels. The most frequently ordered product is S355 steel. In addition, we process high-strength steels such as S690. We also work with wear-resistant steels and other special steels up to 50 mm thick.
Most of our clients work in the construction industry. However, we also supply blanks to our machining partners and customers. These parts can be used in a variety of industries, including mechanical engineering and the energy industry.
Our customers most often require plasma and oxygen cutting services, as well as drilling.
One of the main products we produce using plasma cutting is billets for welded beams. These preforms are later used in our customers' construction projects such as buildings and large structures like bridges and industrial structures.
